Photo Cards

My baby niece had her first real photo shoot with me the other day, it was so much fun, she is so cute! She slept through most of it, but when she woke up she really hammed it up for the camera, she really has amazing range when it comes to facial expressions, and she's only two weeks old! She's a natural! Perhaps modeling is in her future :)

I designed a photo card to be used as birth announcements, and I just wanted to share it. I think it's really amazing, with the technology today, the things that can be done. With digital photography, the right software and an eye for design, everything can be completely customized, you never have to settle for anything.

Photo cards like this one are available - and can be custom-designed to your liking. You can also purchase the digital file and purchase your own cards at your convenience. Any questions? Feel free to call me or email at kamila@kamilaharris.com

Jared and Juliane

I first met Jared and Juliane a couple months ago when I photographed the wedding of Jared's sister, Lindsay. Even though I only met them briefly, I could tell by the way they interacted together (especially on the dance floor!) that they were a fun, loving couple - so I was very happy when they asked me to do a beach photo session with them!

For our photo shoot location we chose Ocean City, the 59th street jetty. There were a few other groups getting their pictures taken in this popular spot, so we walked up and down the beach, finding interesting backdrops along the way.

This morning I got a really nice email from Jared's mom, Carla :

"Thanks so much for doing Jared and Juliane's engagement shoot last night. Jared was kinda dreading it, he's never cared for "posing"... The good news is that he had fun! He called after the session and told us what a good time they'd had!"

I thought this was such a great compliment, since I always hope that the couples I photograph enjoy the session. I always say, the more you make each other laugh and the more you interact with each other, the more you'll love your photos.

Just wanted to share this website that I found, Fabulous Stationery

how cute is this stuff! I thought these were really fun for shower invites, thank-you cards, or 'just-because' notes. I'm having a hard time choosing which ones to order for myself :)

Here's another fun set from Jen and Jay's engagement session.

Back to work!

Here I am with my baby niece! These were taken the day after she was born. It was such an exciting and emotional few days. I was so happy to be able to be there to welcome Kadence into the world. I can't believe I'm an aunt! Kadence is so cute, I already know I'm going to spoil her rotten.

I would like to thank everyone for their well-wishes and patience! I'm back to work now, and by the end of today I'm hoping to be caught up with work that was interrupted last week.

My sister is in labor! She has been in labor since last night and the baby should be coming very soon!

I will be out of town today, and possibly tomorrow as well, to be with my family at this wonderful and exciting time.

Kevin and Tara

Here are some images from Kevin and Tara's wedding, I was working on their wedding album today and picked out just a couple of my favorites to share. I like these because they are the photojournalistic syle, just moments captured without any interaction from me, which is my main focus throughout every wedding. Each of these photos will mean something to the bride, hopefully bringing back a feeling or a thought from that day. You can almost feel the anticipation conveyed in the first few photos, and the relaxed enjoyment of the last one.

Jen and Jay - Beach Engagement, Stone Harbor, NJ

This was another really fun engagement session, this time in Stone Harbor, NJ.

The past few engagement sessions were all done within about two weeks of each other - and being in different places and shooting them at different times of the day, really made them all unique. Each one stands out on its own, even though they were all beach sessions.

I have a couple more beach engagement sessions coming up in the near future, and I'm looking forward to trying new things to keep them all unique as well. I'm excited to see what develops :P

Aimee and Dan - Engagement

Another engagement session I'm working on today - this one was in Ocean City, NJ. The bugs were attacking us like crazy that day and we were in the middle of a heatwave - but we still managed to get some really cool shots.

Laura and Chris - Beach Engagement

Another recent engagement session - this one was in Long Beach Island, near the Barnegat Light. It's one of the few places in LBI where the beach is really long and the grassy dunes seem to go on forever.

Their ceremony is going to be on this beach in September. I can't wait!

Jennifer and Craig

Today I'm working on Jennifer and Craig's wedding. There were some really silly and cute kids there, and this one photo in particular cracked me up. I was photographing the bride and bridesmaids when we noticed the kids nearby, and I think they were pulling the bark off the tree. And yes, one of them is doing "the robot" - I thought this was a cute photo because it shows the kids playing and the girls laughing in the background.

And here are some more of the kids:

Wendy and DJ - Engagement Session

I have been working on quite a few engagement sessions lately. I want to share one of them - this is Wendy and DJ and we took these photos in Batsto Village, in Wharton State Forest here in South Jersey. If you're looking for a great engagement photo location, this is definitely it. There are so many places to go, I've shot there a bunch of times and still have not covered the whole place. It's also interesting to read the history of the area - you can find out more, plus directions, etc. on their website - http://www.batstovillage.org

Carrie and Joseph

Today I'm working on Carrie and Joseph's album - their ceremony was in Stone Harbor, and the wedding reception was in Cape May at the beautiful Congress Hall. These are some photos from their wedding:
