Nicole Atkins at Algonquin Arts in Manasquan

No plans for the 14th?? How about dinner and a show? Come see the Jersey shore's own Nicole Atkins at the Algonquin Arts Theater in Manasquan, NJ.

From the Algonquin site: "Rolling Stone magazine says Neptune-native Nicole Atkins’ sound is “like Rufus Wainwright with less piano, more atmosphere and a stronger pleasure principle.” She’s also been compared to Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, and Fiona Apple, has been featured in Rolling Stone, The Asbury Park Press, and Upstage Magazine and performed for David Letterman this past October, and Conan O'Brien just a few weeks ago. She and her band, The Sea, will be at the Algonquin Arts Theatre on this Valentine’s Day at 8 p.m"

I spoke to Nicole a few weeks ago after one of her shows, she said she will be playing a lot of covers of old love songs - it's going to be a really sweet show, get your tickets now! And you might see me running around with a camera :)

And for dinner? How about The Mill in Spring Lake Heights, or another Manasquan area eatery. Perfect!

New Sample Album

Winter is usually a good time to update my sample albums, website, etc. etc. - so my first new sample album came in the other day. So exciting! It's the album from Stephanie and John's wedding, (see the design here) a 10x10 flush-mount album.

What's cool is I also have the proof books from their engagement session and wedding - all their finished images - so you can see the whole process from beginning to end.

Another one from Jim and Lori's wedding

At Lori and Jim's wedding there was one guest who told me she reads my blog all the time (hi Michelle!) - and she just had to meet me in person. This was such a cute experience because I just never realized that YES people do look at the stuff I post, haha so it was such an honor to have a "fan", hehe. Also Lori mentioned that her coworkers stalk my blog soooooooo this one is for all of you!

Website Updated!

I guess something is going around, huh? I am fighting the same cold for the third time this month - so between sipping on chamomile tea, chicken soup, Airborne and Zicam, I updated my website this weekend. There were a few photos I just couldn't let go but on the most part, they are all photos from more recent weddings!

Also this weekend I photographed Cathy and Howard's engagement session at the Tropicana in Atlantic City.

Family Photos!

Celebration Studios - Help for brides!

I heard some buzz here and there about a big photo company in trouble over the past few months. And last night, watching the news, I saw heartbroken couples who lost thousands of dollars and will never get their photos because the studio went out of business. This is so unfortunate for the photographers employed by this company, and of course for the brides and grooms who are left in the dark... I don't even know what to say because this is just awful.

I received several inquiries in the past few days from brides saying their photographer cancelled just months before the wedding - and it's a nightmare becuase most people are already booked for this summer!

I know I was planning to book no more than 3-4 weddings per month for 2008 but - in light of this situation - I would really like to help brides affected by this. I do have a few dates (mostly Fridays and Sundays) open in June - September that I can fill if it would help some of you out. I have a few Saturdays in July as well. Please email me if interested.

Also - if you have had your wedding photographed by Celebration Studios and you have negatives, or digital negatives, and you don't think you'll ever be able to get reprints or an album - please contact me because I may be able to help in this regard as well. As long as you have unmarked negatives, albums can be made. All is not lost!

And yes, I am offering a generous discount to Celebrations clients - contact me for details.

Lori and Jim - January 12, 2008

Who would have thought it would be 50 degrees and sunny in January? Lori and Jim certainly had a beautiful day and an amazing wedding at the Merion in Cinnaminson.

I had so much fun with this couple at their engagement session back in June, so I knew their wedding was going to be a blast - and it was!

Here are just a few teasers!

Inside Edition - UPDATED!!!

Inside Edition is doing a segment on Trash the Dress, and I received a request from them to submit some of my photos. I submitted a couple from each Trash the Dress session from this past summer, so if they do air my photos you might see yourself on TV! :)

The show airs tonight, January 4th, at 6 p.m. on My9 if you're in the central Jersey area.

Here is info on when it airs in your area click here

I'm going to be nervous all day waiting to see which photos they used. So far, in the promo, they are using one from Cindy's session in LBI! You can see the promo on their website InsideEdition.com

*UPDATE*

It was a short segment that mostly featured a NYC photographer doing a session in the middle of NYC - it looked so fun!! And then they showed a quick "slideshow" of other photos, one of a bride who used paint, one of a bride and groom in a pool, and one of my photos, of Lauren about to jump into the ocean. Yay! My 1 second of fame. LOL :)

Here is the clip!

The segment is actually kind of negative - negative about the trash-the-dress concept. I think brides would be more reluctant to do this if they thought their dress is going to get ruined. It's not about destruction, it's about creation. Your dress does not have to get ruined.

2008 Availability - Update

Thanks to your tremendous support, my year has filled up quicker than any previous year! I am no longer available for any additional weddings or boudoir sessions in 2008 EXCEPT for the months of November and December.

Of course I have reserved some availability for engagement sessions for upcoming weddings, so don't worry about that!

Thank you!
