I'm so excited about Kelli and Dave's wedding next weekend! I actually photographed Kelli's brother's wedding - Stephanie and John - in May of 2007 so it's just such an honor to be doing another wedding for this family. It's been happening a lot lately, I see my past and future clients at weddings - it's really a cool feeling.

So Kelli and Dave and I met up at Penns Landing in Philly and we kind of walked around South Street and then hopped in our cars and went down to the Citizens Bank Park area and took some pictures there. It was so much fun, they are such a great couple, I can't wait for the wedding!

At Corinna and Joe's wedding I really liked these wall sconces and I immediately wanted to create a funky moody image with the bride and groom underneath one of them.

I was able to steal them away for a minute between dances and I'm so glad I did!

Even though I think the ratings system is TOTALLY outdated with everyone watching shows online, DVR or just buying the seasons when they're done, Pushing Daisies is in danger of being cancelled due to low ratings!

Several things can be done to "help" - the quickest and easiest is to contact ABC and tell them not to cancel the show, and to tell your friends to watch the show, post about it on your blogs, facebook and myspace and also pick up Season 1 on DVD!

Wow, this weather is crazy, it's practically blizzarding outside my window right now.

So I am back from my few days away - I had Corrina and Joe's wedding on Saturday and we got some cool photos despite the rainy weather. On Sunday was our anniversary, so my husband and I went to NYC after a big family dinner and stayed over and spent the day in the city yesterday, it was such a perfect day for it. We stayed at a chic hotel in Soho and I want to go back there to shoot boudoir!

It's good to be back, I am totally in the 'editing' zone today. I have my Pandora radio on, a big cup of coffee, and I'm just editing away.

Carmela and Dave - Engagement in Doylestown

Carmela and Dave met me for a beer at a pub in town and we chatted a bit, then went out and frolicked around Doylestown. We had a good time and the fall colors are just amazing. What a fun couple! I can't wait to photograph their wedding next November!

I love how engagement sessions give me a chance to get to know the couple a little better. I think it really helps the bride and groom to feel more comfortable on the wedding day.

Sadness at the Expo

I saw a dog get hit by a car this morning :(

This morning before leaving for NYC I took my dog out for a walk and this little dog decided to dart across the street to say hello to my dog, and got ran over! It happened right in front of me and was just terrible!

I ran my dog back inside and ran back out to help... called the vet down the street and the dog was taken there and then I called the vet later on to see what was going on and found out the dog was alive but in critical condition and was being taken to another facility.

Ugh not a good way to start the day, not at all. Hopefully the little guy will pull through. I'm going to try to find out more tomorrow :(

And so I was a sad sad panda all the way to New York City where I met up with a photographer friend of mine at the Photo Expo and we checked out a bunch of the exhibits and I have to say there are some really cool albums and lighting equipment that I am definitely looking into, it was a great trip, just wish the day didn't start out so grim :(

I am getting so much done the past few days and just buzzing along, good thing I really enjoy post-processing images!

Also, education is such a huge part of my business. I am always learning, and it's so important to stay on top of what's happening in photography. So even though I am super busy this time of year I need to make time for this. Tomorrow I will be making my yearly trip to Photo Plus Expo in NYC.

Friday I am shooting an engagment session in New Hope and I can't wait!

Saturday is Corrinna and Joe's wedding, which will a lot of fun I'm sure!

And Sunday - October 26th - Chris and I will be celebrating our 6 year anniversary!! I will be out of the office Sunday and Monday. I might even leave my cellphone at home and not check my email for a couple of days. I don't know if that is humanly possible for me to do but I'm going to try!

Woohoo 6 years ago these two crazy kids danced the night away :) Seriously we look so young in this photo.

I will make every effort to get as many photos uploaded for everyone prior to this weekend but I will be out of town Thursday, and also Saturday - Tuesday morning.

More Starlets!

I am currently working on a bunch of weddings, engagements, and boudoir sessions, so it will be a couple more weeks before I have all of the Starlet Sessions finished but here is another sneak peak. Once I'm finished with them all, each girl will receive a "pinup" style book!

We are going to start planning the next Starlet Session soon for the spring. Now that we know exactly what works and what doesn't, and have asked for suggestions on what to improve for the next one - the spring sessions will be even better, bigger, more pinup, more everything. I can't wait! Of course details will be posted once they are firmed up, and the Mailing List will have first dibs so be sure to join!

New Studio Samples!

This is always exciting! I have a new album to show and also new companion albums - small 'clones' of the main album, they are so cool!

I love the custom photo covers, and all the pages are thick and sturdy. The main album is sized 10x10 and is also available in 12x12, and the companion albums are available in 9x9, 7.5x7.5, 6x6, and 4x4 and they make great gifts for parents, grandparents and anyone else who wants a little brag book to carry around to show everyone how fabulous your wedding was!!

Oh how I love New York City. I met Laura and Josh at Penn Station and we made our way to Times Square which was so crowded and full of energy and fun! Engagements galore

October is definitely the month for engagement sessions.

I already had a bunch this month, and now I'm leaving in about an hour to go to Philadelphia for an engagement session, then one in NYC on Sunday (can't wait!), then one here in Doylestown on Monday, and New Hope on Friday - whew!

It is so beautiful out right now it's definitely the perfect weather and October just seems to have amazing lighting all the time.

I will be out of the office starting this afternoon, for the next few days (wedding Saturday, engagements galore, etc) but I'll return on Monday!

October is my favorite month. Not too cold, not too hot, all the rich colors, and PUMPKIN LATTES. When I lived on the Jersey Shore the summer was my favorite but now that I'm in Bucks County I am just LOVING the fall, it's just beautiful!!!

I'm about to leave to go shoot Christy and Dave's wedding and I am so excited and just so happy that they have such a beautiful day. Even in the middle of the busiest wedding season ever, even though I'm totally swamped, I just absolutely totally and completely love weddings, and I can't wait to once again capture the moments of two people in love on the happiest day of their lives.

Starlet Sessions are on Monday and Tuesday and I am so excited, Emily and I sat down the other day and went over the schedule and all of the details and we both just kinda went "SQUEEEEE!! IT'S IN A FEW DAYS!!"

The forecast for Monday and Tuesday is 75 and sunny - so we are definitely going to get to do some awesome outdoor pinup shots in addition to indoor pinup and old hollywood glamour STARLET photos!

I can't wait to see the girls channel their inner Marilyn, Bettie Page, Jean Harlow, Audrey Hepburn and more!

And tomorrow I get to photograph Christy and Dave's wedding in Marlton, NJ, and I have a couple shore engagement sessions on Sunday - fun fun fun!

So once again I am off - I have been out of the office for 90% of the past month. Whew! And putting in some pretty long days when I am here (one of my brides IM's me at like 10 p.m. every day telling me to go home hehe).

It's getting really hard to do everything all on my own - so - I am no longer doing it all on my own. Starting next week I will have help on almost a full-time basis so I'm excited about that.

Boudoir Availability 2009

I have decided to open up the following Fridays for boudoir - December 12, January 16, 23, 30, February 6, 20, and March 13 and 20. These will most likely be in Philadelphia but NYC is also a possibility.

*update* March 13 is filled now and a group is building for March 20th.

The location in Philadelphia is usually at the Clinton Street B&B and we can use any of the rooms available - check them out at Clinton Street B&B site (i recommend a stay there too if you're in the Philly area, I love this place!)

I have been way too busy to blog lately! I had 5 weddings in the past 3 weeks so I have about 10,000 photos to edit. I will definitely be M.I.A from regular posting on the blog for the next few weeks but SO many images coming soon.

Yesterday I photographed Lauren and Anthony's wedding at one of my absolute FAVORITE locations, Congress Hall in Cape May, NJ. And I got to work with Pete from First Floor Films which was a lot of fun - he is great to work with, and I have been reading his blog for some time now and just love his work. Can't wait to see the video!

Last weekend I photographed Sue and Tim's wedding at The Breakers in Spring Lake, NJ (in the hurricane) and also Jenn and Matt's wedding at The Flanders in Ocean City, NJ. The sun came out for us on Sunday, it was great!

And I have to post more images from the weekend before that, Melissa and Jim's wedding and Erin and Don's.

Pink Comb Salon

My good friend Stephanie and I recently visited the fabulous Michelle Lo Conte at her salon, Pink Comb, in Nutley, NJ. It is such a cute place, so wonderfully decorated that I immediately asked Michelle who her interior designer was. Turns out she designed the place herself! Her talent and attention to detail are clearly evident the moment you step into the place.

So as we got a relaxing mani-pedi and sipped on pink champagne (I am loving my 'business meetings' lately), surrounded by chandeliers and pink and brown decor and candles and all sorts of girly things, the conversation quickly turned to boudoir since I am getting so many NJ and NYC inquiries for boudoir, I would love to serve you better by offering sessions in your area.

I really love weddings, it's ridiculous sometimes when I think about how weddings are my life and I love every minute of it. I even love wedding reality shows.... and I hate most reality shows... except Project Runway which is my absolute FAVE - ok I'm getting off topic so let me get back on track.

This weekend I had two weddings, Erin and Don on Friday at the Renault Winery in Egg Harbor, and Melissa and Jim on Saturday at Auletto's in Deptford.

I drove home Saturday night from Jim and Melissa's wedding just going over all the day's events in my head like I usually do and I was just all excited about how great both weddings went despite a bit of a hectic start!

On Saturday, my assistant Sarah, got into a car accident on the way to meet me in the morning! The most important thing is that she is ok but I told her to just take care of herself and that I would get someone to cover for her. And after a couple phone calls I was able to recruit a good friend of mine, Margaret, who has assisted me at weddings in the past, and she is a full-time commercial photographer and has done a few weddings on her own as well. She lives a couple hours away but she arrived in time for the ceremony and was a great help throughout the day.

I am currently working on finishing up..... let's see... 7 boudoir sessions, 2 weddings, 3 engagement sessions and 5 family photo sessions. I am working on boudoir sessions and engagement sessions for girls who are getting married in a matter of weeks - so they are my first priority right now since I have never been late on delivery of a boudoir album or engagement photos in time for the wedding.

And of course I'm still settling in to my new office, preparing for upcoming projects, designing albums, etc. So it's a bit hectic around here, and my usual quick response time to new inquiries is suffering because I am really focused on current and past clients right now - as much as I value new inquiries, I really need to focus on my current projects at the moment, and of course I need a day off here and there too (what is a 'day off'..?? lol). I have some help now with the clerical office stuff so things are getting easier and I can focus more on shooting and editing so once everything settles into place and I'm caught up with everything there will be no more lags in response.

I will definitely answer every single email and phone inquiry it is just going to take a little longer than usual. I get about 100 emails a day not including tons of junk email so it just takes a little bit to get through it all sometimes.

In the meantime - this might answer a lot of questions - I am not booking any more weddings for January - September of 2009. I am now starting to book 2010.

And I have decided to open up a bunch of Fridays for boudoir sessions in January-March - January 16, 23, 30, February 6, 20, 27, and March 13 and 21.

Also, Starlet Sessions will be offered on a regular basis starting the spring of 2009 - more details on that will come in October

7 years ago today i stood on a bridge in central Jersey and watched in disbelief as the sky in the distance filled with black smoke. It felt so personal. My city was bleeding. It was absolutely surreal. I was glued to the TV for a few days straight but once I stopped watching - to this day I cannot watch the coverage or look at those images, it's just too much. I can't believe it's been 7 years and that there are children in this world that will never know what it was like to live before 9/11 when "terror" wasn't a a word you hear every single day.

In early 2001 I interviewed for a job in the WTC and turned it down for another opportunity. A few friends of mine were in the city that day. A few were walking over the Brooklyn bridge in the chaos to get out of the city. One actually made it out of the towers, and one, well, she did something very rare - she didn't feel well and called out of work that day. She lost all of her coworkers.

My heart goes out to all those who lost someone in this horrible tragedy. We all lost something that day. Everything changed and things will never be the same.

More Boudoir!

I haven't made a boudoir post in a few months, so it's time for an update.

Of course no boudoir photo will ever be posted anywhere online without the girl's permission, so I will update this post when I have permission to post some more photos!

Yesterday was one of the special "added" weekday boudoir sessions, and it was a great day. As a special treat, I had a masseuse come in and give everyone a relaxing chair massage!

The next two special boudoir sessions are October 6th and 8th, and I might be able to squeeze in one more person per day. And I will hire Irene (the masseuse) again for those days - just as a thank-you for being on the mailing list and booking the session!

This went really well so I am thinking about opening up a few more weekday dates for boudoir session, maybe in December - stay tuned!

I moved some of my stuff in today! Here's your first look at the new studio. I'll post another photo after I settle in, this is the bare minimum right now. I have the most important things - my computer, printer, and coffee mug. I'm really looking forward to decorating the "client meeting" area of the space, and putting up some huge gallery prints, I have so many ideas!

Little Olivia was so cute, she cracked me up! When we went to Mercer Museum for a part of our session, she was insistent on meeting the princesses that live there.

I can't believe it's September! This summer really flew by! I hope everyone had a great summer and a nice long weekend.

I have some exciting news - my business is growing so I need more room. As a result, Kamila Harris Photography will be officially moving into a new studio this week!

I am taking my business from home to a cool office in a historic building by the train station here in Doylestown. It's a really great space that I can't wait to decorate and make my own!

For the next two weeks I will be focusing on moving into my new studio and finishing up any work left over from this summer. I really need to get caught up and focus on all of my current clients before the next few weddings happen - so it will take me a little longer to answer inquiries and questions that are not urgent - but I will get back to you! I will also not be meeting with clients for the next few weeks while I'm in the transition.

You can still use my current (home) address in case you are mailing a contract or payment in the next few weeks. My phone number(s) and email of course will also stay the same.

Once I'm settled I'll be sure to post some photos of my new studio. I'm so excited about it!

Sue and Tim - Engagement in Seaside

I had such a good time with this couple! I love silly people and fun crazy ideas - so when a couple talks about how they wanted to have elephants and juggling monkeys parading down the street when they get married - I know we'll get along just fine.

Sue and Tim actually live in Bermuda but are coming home to NJ to get married in just a few weeks, at the Breakers in Spring Lake. I am always telling them how jealous I am that they get to live in Bermuda and not-so-secretly hoping that last minute they will decide to have their wedding there and fly me out - haha! (Come on guys there's still time!)

Sue and Tim were back in NJ for about a week to tie up all the loose ends of the wedding and we were able to get together in Seaside Park and I took pictures while they frolicked on the beach. And we got a beautiful sunset which is always a plus!

Nicole and Michael at the Venetian

Nicole and Michael's Engagement Session was a clue to how they were going to be at the wedding - non-stop smiling, super happy, very affectionate and just beyond words cute together.

I posted a little preview of their wedding here and I wanted to share some more.

Nicole was one of those "photographer's dream" brides who literally did not stop smiling the entire day. Michael seemed to really enjoy the day - he was also smiling all day - and you could just tell he could not wait to be Nicole's husband. The bridal party was pretty big which can sometimes be challenging but everyone was so cooperative and fun. The staff at the Venetian was very helpful and they had everything under control. The whole day just went great!

Snap!

I went horseback riding today for the first time in a couple years.

Lauren, who has a beautiful horse named Snap, has been inviting me out to ride for the past year and I finally made it out there today.

I had such a good time, even though I was totally rusty at first and completely tensed up and forgot what to do. I used to ride when I was younger but it's been a long time. There really is nothing like it, and it was amazing to get back in the saddle again.

I hope Lauren doesn't mind me sharing a photo that she sent me recently - here is Snap! She is a beautiful horse and a fiery redhead who tested my limits and abilities (or lack thereof) today. I look forward to seeing her again soon! And I'm bringing my cameras next time. The farm, the horses, it's just beautiful there and so inspiring. It's been so crazy busy around here lately, and it was really nice to get away from the office for a few hours to such a peaceful place.

New York City

A few years ago I used to work down the street from the Empire State Building and I loved seeing it every morning as I came out of Penn Station. It's been a while, so it was nice to be able to take this photo at the wedding on Saturday, as we walked along the river in Hoboken.

This weekend I had a pretty rare two weddings in a row - I usually do just one per weekend, so when it so happens that I do have back-to-back weddings, I feel so fortunate to have THREE amazing assistants to choose from to help me!

This weekend Sarah and Kat were a great help!

Kat kept the Photo Station going all night Saturday and almost every guest got their picture taken.

Nora and John

Last night I had the honor of photographing Nora and John's wedding in Hoboken NJ and their reception at the Newark Airport Marriott - it was such a beautiful wedding and we had such a perfect puffy cloud day! I have another wedding today in Lewisburg, PA, so I can only post these few photos for now, but of course there's more to come soon!

Nora allowed me to kidnap her dress for a few minutes and I found this great chandelier to hang it on.

The ceremony started by Nora telling the priest that John is "awesome" - and right after the ceremony the bride and groom snuck off to share a kiss and I was able to capture it from a distance. What a cute couple, beatiful families, fun bridal party, just an amazing wedding.

Starlet Sessions - UPDATE

The mailing list got this email this morning so they got first dibs, and since the date of the shoot is pretty close, I wanted to share it with everyone. This is booked on a first-come, first-served basis, and right now it is completely full but we are talking about dates in the spring of 2009. The response has been amazing! I'm so excited about this!

We love everything vintage - classic cars, old Hollywood noir portraiture, cheeky pinups and fun, colorful 50's style backdrops, and we have found the perfect location to offer these fantasy photo shoots where you can become a Hollywood Starlet for a day!

These are totallly different from a boudoir session, so if you have been thinking about doing a boudoir session and have been nervous about it, the pinup/starlet look might be a lot more comfortable for you. Your look is expertly designed, styled, and perfected and we provide the wardrobe, makeup and hair. You are a part of the planning process every step of the way. High quality theater style costumes can be rented to achieve the best and most authentic look.

We are so excited about this expansion of our services and want to kick off Starlet Sessions as soon as possible.

Monday, October 13, 2008 (Columbus Day) is going to be the first ever Starlet Session - with more to come in the spring and summer of 2009.

We will accept up to 5 girls, and each girl will have 2-3 looks designed for her. You will get a CD of high-resolution photos, print permission, and a 8x10 paperback book of all of the best photos from the session which will include all the girls – designed like a true classic Pinup/Hollywood Portrait book!

With your permission, the photos will be used to promote the Doo Wop Organization and help in the preservation of 50's architecture and culture in the Wildwoods.

The special introductory rate is $300 per person and includes all of the above, plus of course refreshments and beverages to keep us going!

The only stipulation is that you must be available on Monday October 13th and you must have your own transportation to Wildwood, NJ. The shoot will take place from about 10 a.m. until at least 7 p.m. and you can leave after your part of the shoot, or spend the day with us and enjoy all that the Wildwoods have to offer.

Check out Caitlin Domanico's Blog - she did a photo session for my husband and I around Doylestown and she did a great job! I can't wait to frame some of these photos and put them up around our place. And of course my dog as always steals the show, he is soooo cute right??

As a photographer, I am behind the camera 99% of the time and I have almost no photos of the two of us since our wedding 5 years ago! So this was a lot of fun. I was SUPER nervous at first, and it is just a completely different feeling being on the other side of a photoshoot. Caitlin made us feel at ease pretty quickly and before we knew it almost 2 hours went by! And finally we have some photos of us, our dog, and our new hometown that we love.

Adopt a Classroom!

It's that time of the year again - everyone is thinking about going back to school. It's also a time to think about the children that live in areas affected by natural disasters or really bad economic conditions. That makes it hard for them to have all the fun colorful school supplies that kids in more stable areas have. Many teachers spend a whole lot of their own money to purchase supplies for their classrooms, and it's a really good feeling to lend a helping hand.

I have been working with Adopt-a-Classroom for a little over a year and it has been such a rewarding experience. Last year after sending a big box of crayons, pencils, art supplies and other fun items for a first grade class in South Dakota, I received a big envelope full of thank-you notes from the kids - it was the cutest thing ever!

First Moment

A great way to ensure that you will have enough time for photos, is to do all of your "formal" photos first, at the start of the day, before the ceremony. It's a good way to spend more time and get some really creative photos of the bride and groom, as well as all the bridal party, family, everyone - before the rush of the day really sets in.

I certainly do not pressure my couples to see each other before the ceremony if that is not something that you believe in, but I do highly recommend it. It really allows so much more time for photography, and for the rest of the day you don't have to worry about posing or getting relatives together and you can just enjoy your wedding while I capture every moment naturally.

I always set up a meeting between the bride and groom when we do this, so that it's a very special and sweet moment. Here is the bride and groom's first meeting from Heather and Nick's Wedding

Boudoir Sessions Added!

Because of overwhelming interest in boudoir sessions, I have decided to open up a few select dates for weekday group sessions in the fall of 2008.

The open dates are Wednesday, September 3, Monday, October 6th, and Wednesday, October 8th.

Another thunderstorm!

So how awesome was that storm yesterday? I used the opportunity to train my dog, and I thought I'd post an update.

I actually took him outside, and we stood on the porch watching the rain and I used the Dog Whisperer technique to have him basically sit through even the most earth-shattering thunderclaps. He was really freaked out at first after a little while he he just sat calmly. I kept reassuring him with my voice and of course he got extra treats and hugs. And he was calm for the remainder of the storm!! It was pretty unbelievable.

Of course this might not work with all dogs but it just seems like for our dog, when he is exposed to whatever he is scared of, and when we use the calm "pack leader" mentality and just keep him calm and submissive, he gets used to it and then it doesn't bother him anymore.

Last night's thunderstorm

I love thudnerstorms, I think they are really an amazing display of power and I love watching lightning. But you know what I do NOT love???? Our 90-pound dog crying, shaking and jumping on the bed all night because he is afraid of thunder and lightning.

Poor Mastodon looked like he was seconds away from a heart attack and there was nothing we could do to calm him down for HOURS!!

He is a rescue and he might have been abused before we got him so he used to be very skittish and afraid of EVERY little sound. Now he is still nervous around the vacuum cleaner like most dogs, and he goes into a full blown panic attack at the faintest sign of an approaching thunderstorm.

Cars, trucks, people, other dogs, etc - he got used to it all since they are around all the time. People are amazed at how good he is on his walks these days. Cesar Millan would be proud!!

But the thunderstorm at night thing - that is a problem. Any ideas on how to get a dog used to the loud sound of thunder???

(and yes, he is just fine today, I think he's going to sleep all day to make up for the stressful night, and I wish I could do the same :P)

PS. As I posted this, I heard thunder. Oh man. Not again! This poor dog! At least it's daytime, I can turn up my music to drown out the sound outside.

Dark Knight - thoughts?

So I got to see Dark Knight this weekend (along with everyone in America it seems), and I loved it!

I love Christian Bale (since Newsies and Swing Kids!!) so anything he does is pretty much on my list anyway, but the added excitement of seeing a new interpretation of the Joker and some of the other characters, and new Batman gadgets and vehicles - I have been waiting for this movie and it definitely did not disappoint!

I have to echo everyone's sentiments when I say, it was very sad to see Heath Ledger do such an amazing job, so much talent, and knowing that he is gone. It definitely made the movie all the more creepy and dark.

Overall I thought it was really well done and a great, fun ride. I love Batman!

Summer and John - Night-time Beach Engagement

I wanted something different for Summer and John's engagement session in Long Branch, NJ. We met up in Pier Village, where the couple spent a lot of time when they were dating. We started when the sun was just about gone, and ended at almost 10 p.m. We really got some unique photos and were super excited to be able to get a huge bonfire in the background of some of the shots.

I recently heard a pretty frightening story from a bride. A friend of hers hired a photographer from craigslist who was not insured. Her reception venue, which required liability insurance, did not allow her photographer into the building!

Could you imagine???

Most venues require liability insurance and if your photographer doesn’t carry it, the venue can and will stop the photographer from working on their property.

I cannot stress enough that in this industry you very much get what you pay for. Make sure you hire professionals for your wedding! Professional photographers carry at least $1 million in liability insurance. It’s one way of finding out who’s a top notch pro and who’s a “weekend warrior”.

Awww I received a Thank-You note from Brooke and Jim today and it was just so nice that I had to share it. This is the kind of stuff that really just makes my day.

When Brooke first contacted me they did not have a date set yet, but they were hoping for June 2008. So I gave her two of my available dates in June and they chose one of those dates for their wedding! That really means a lot that they cared about photography so much that they chose their wedding date based on my availability! And I'm so glad that they love their photos :)

And the inside of the envelope matches my decor lol!

Angela and Joe - Wedding - Cape May Congress Hall

I did something different for this blog post. Instead of just posting photos, I had one of my assistants videotape parts of the day so that you get to see not only the photos but also how I got them! And a few random fun moments throughout the day.

This was my first time trying something like this and it was really fun and it's hilarious to see myself on film, I'm a huge nerd, and my mannerisms (which I didn't even know I had), are funny to see. So THIS is what you all see at your weddings haha.

This is also my first try at video editing. I am not by any means a video professional.

The wedding went soooo well - everyone was just beautiful and wonderful and it was the best weather - warm and almost no humidity. And I did something new at the reception too and I'll be posting some photos of that shortly (*Updated with photos below!*). For now - enjoy the BEHIND THE SCENES of Angela and Joe's wedding!

And - the reason that I had two assistants instead of one at this wedding, is because I wanted to make sure we have sufficient coverage at the reception while one of us operates the Photo Station! What is a Photo Station?? Well, I brought a black backdrop, set it up in an adjoining room, and guests could come up at any time and get their photo taken - serious, silly, whatever - kind of like a photo booth.

This was a GREAT way to get fun photos of guests - without pressure or interrupting them at their tables. It was a great success and I would love to do this at more weddings.

If you are interested in adding a third photographer and the Photo Station to your wedding coverage, let me know and we can discuss it! There is an extra charge since I need to hire an extra assistant for the day, and we need to make sure it's okay with your reception venue and that there is room to set it up. I do not want to interfere with the reception or be in the way of anything, but if you can do it, it's totally worth it! SOOOO FUN!

The bride's sister, Lisa, was a huge fan of the Photo Station and kept bringing people back to take pictures, and they got funnier as the night went on, I loved it!

Officially a Pennsylvanian!

Well, after many hours at the DMV, auto tag place, inspection, and phone tag with the auto glass place to fix my windshield - I am finally an official PA resident with a PA license woohoo!

Tomorrow I will be photographing Angela and Joe's wedding in Cape May! I am looking forward to a beautiful day at the beach. The weather report is calling for lower humidity so I hope it's true!

I will be finishing up a bunch of boudoir, maternity, family portrait and and engagement sessions over the weekend and into early next week so if you're waiting for your photos, hold tight, they are on the way.

I just found out that someone I recently had the priveledge of photographing, the grandfather of a bride-to-be, has passed away. I am in tears :(

I am heartbroken that I will not see her grandparents together at the wedding. They were together 58 years.

I know I've been unusually quiet - but I'm alive and well - I'm here working hard to process everyone's images. This has been a really busy season so far and it's only the beginning. I have really been pushing myself to try new things, with posing, lighting, angles, to keep things fresh. Thinking outside the box. Going stale is not an option. After 5 years of photographing weddings it's easy to get complacent but that is just out of the question for me. I'm also experimenting with some new processing to make each wedding's photos really unique. It takes time, but I really think it's well worth it to get artistic images!

This weekend I will be photographing Angela and Joe's wedding at the Congress Hall in Cape May - that is one of my favorite places to shoot and I know it will be a lot of fun - so I am super excited!

Alright back to work! :) Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. I have been working every weekend so we really haven't had time to really settle in our new place or paint etc. This weekend we did quite a bit of work - it was exhausting but I am really pleased with the result.

I leave you with this photo of my re-finished studio (a.k.a. my living room) - where you can view an awesome DVD slideshow of images, look through all my new sample albums, and sip on a mojito or coffee when you come meet me to chat about your wedding. I wish I took a before shot of this room because it was just so drab and boring - and now it's totally "us". And the exposed brick is pretty much my favorite thing in the world.

A couple fun random things.

First - more and more of the main players are "confirming" the Arrested Development movie. This is so exciting, I am going to cook up a pot of hot ham water to celebrate.

Second - only a few more days till The Dark Knight! I LOVE Batman and I can't wait to see this movie. How creepy does Heath Ledger look as the Joker????? From what I have been reading there is already Oscar buzz about his role.

Third - MGMT is playing at the Starlight Ballroom in Philly July 25th - I'm THERE! Check 'em out and come see the show!! I hope I can bring in my camera.

And last but not least, my sister took this shot of me and my niece Kadence walking during our little photo shoot last week. I think my eyes are closed. I still think it's a pretty cute shot of us.

2009 Wedding Availability

I take on a limited number of wedding assignments per year so that I can focus on each wedding and keep my turn-around time to a minimum. Most people do not realize how much really goes into creative and artistic wedding photography. Each wedding equals about 60-80 hours of work, from the client meeting to photo processing to album design to the final delivery of the album. So, doing more than 2-3 weddings in a month means working hectic 80 hour weeks and not to mention a much slower turn-around time, which is stressful for both the photographer and the client. That doesn't sound like fun. I would never want to get to that point because I love what I do and would never want to lose that! So, as much as I hate turning people away, I cannot accept more than 2-3 wedding assignments per month.

With that in mind, 2009 is almost fully booked. January - July are fully booked.

I have availability for only 1 more wedding per month in the months of August - December.

I will also be expanding my portrait work next year - families, engagements, boudoir, maternity and newborn photo sessions. So while I limit my weddings, I will have availability for portrait sessions since they can often be done during the week, and require far less processing time, so they will not interfere with my wedding work.
